Meet detective Shivaji Surathkal

As the filmmaker readies to begin the second schedule of his film with Ramesh next week, he shares with us this exclusive look of his protagonist and the title of the film.
“After considering several options, we have zeroed in on Shivaji Surathkal — The Case of Ranagiri Rahasya as the title of the film.Shivaji Surathkal is the name of Ramesh sir’s character in the film, who is the head of the special investigation force. Shivaji is a serious detective who has a knack for details. He unveils the secret of the many mysteries that take place in Ranagiri. We modeled his character on detectives of the many crime thrillers that I have read. The most important thing about this psychological crime thriller is the script on which Abhijit YR, Ramesh sir and I worked on or nearly a year,” says Akash.
So, how is Ramesh different in this film? “His character is a moody person, who appears very cold, gets angry, is sober and has spells of depression. This is not how we are used to seeing him onscreen. Ramesh sir’s look is also completely different. He has two looks (this is look one), because there are two time periods in the film,” says Akash. The director wants to make Shivaji Surathkal a franchise, with Ranagiri Rahasya as the first installment. “In fact, we already have two other plots ready,” he signs off.
